Monster Fortress (IC Thread)

You sit in your clans cave, 40 other goblins that are in your generation sharing the space. some were gathering bugs to eat, while other were rough housing. A couple seemed to be preparing to leave, likely to go hunting.

You as well as a few other however sit, not knowing what to do. The world is open to you now, and the elders were at the back of the cave merely watching. They were ready to offer their wisdom, but none of the young goblins seemed interested in it, instead doing their own thing.

The adult had left before you were born, one and expedition to gather loot and good from nearby human and elven villages that were lightly defended, or maybe from caravans that weren't prepared for them. It was only the new generation and the elders, and the start to their story.

Sitting away from the others, purposfully isolated from them yet watching closely, was a small figure, easuly missable in the cave. After a few more seconds of watching he moves quietly, slinking out of the cave, quickly darting away from the entrance. He was hungry, and wanted something other than the bugs that the others seemed happy to eat. He had no idea what he was going to hunt, but that was part of the fun, right?

A young white haired gob wandered away from the rough housing to the edge of the cave, wiggling her nose in thought. Wonder and curiosity sparking behind her golden brown eyes. It was such a big place out there...  only reaching a hand out, carefully as if to grasp at the air. test the boundary's.  Quickly pulling her hand back and looking it over..hm nothing was gone, nothing was hurt.. As she went to turn back, some one rushed past her and out, Psh, who? but why so quickly?

Who was she to ask questions, she turned quickly on her heal and dashed after them. Someone has explain to do, don't you dare almost knock her over.

Grak barely even noticed the other gobi standing by the cave entrance. There were so many of them in the cave, why should this one be any different? He had something far more important in mind; food. The problem was, how was he going to find it? Barely slowing he stooped and scooped up an oval stone that fit snugly into the palm of his hand. With this he should be able to catch something, though it would probably take him a while. With any luck he'd find someth- His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of snapping twigs and something on four legs moving quickly. Darting past the trees and underbrush, he catches sight of a deer. Brow furrowing as he focuses, the stone in his hand lifts into the air, then shoots towards the deer.

she easily caught up to him but stopped, staying notably farther behind the other, she let out a soft snarled. Ears twitching slightly she would have dashed forward, but the site of the deer had her stop..what was that? It was amazing...UGH the choices? Get revenge? stare at the thing. JERK, THING, JERK, thing..but thinggg.. ugh. she huffed and kneeled down, pressing her knuckles to the ground.

Bro goes up to an elder goblin and asks him, "hello. will you murder me or threaten to I give you my lunch?", his inner lips lacerating while saying so, and saying so with the most meek and mumbly voice possible to show humility to the elder.

The rock flew through the sky, racing towards the deer like a bullet. The deer however did not move, a sit continued to eat the grass around it in ignorance. The hunt would be complete, and food would be Gob-graks that day, his first hunt successful!

The rock hit the ground about five feet from the deer, a soft rustle making the deer shoot it's head up in alarm, then prance off through the bushes. The hunt was a failure, as the telekinetic force behind the throw was not strong enough to send the stone more then twenty feet from Grak.

The elder looked at Gob-bro with a bemused look, before her shook his head and chuckled "Of course not young one. We have our own food to eat, and we are here to guide you so that the adult may return to a new generation prepared to survive." He said, the other elders nodding.

"Now then, do you have any other questions?"

"how do I not die? find someone strong and latch onto them to be my friend?"

Petrie homes in on the bright, shining exit with his wonder filled eyes, but turns away from it as well as growing thoughts of food. He ain't leaving the safety of this cave without a piece of the cave for safety.
He hops, lands with a wide stance, and leaps for a thin stalagmite to wrassle it free from its rocky environment.

With a snarl and a curse, Grak stomps forward and snatches up his rock, kicking at a nearby tree. Stupid creature. It should have been hit. Clearly it did something wrong. Keeping up a string of muttering and curses he starts walking in the direction his dinner ran, sure that he'd find it again if he just kept walking. That's the way it worked, right?

She huffed and dashed towards the other, speeding up to tackle the other down for scaring off the pretty, and for almost hitting her as they left. So mean! mean.

The elder smiled and nodded "That's how i got to be old..." He said, chuckling along with the other elders. However, he then frowned and leaned forward "But if that's all you do, you'll end up like us. Goblins who never evolved, and never accomplished anything." He said, looking seriously at Gob-Bro.

"If you want to really thrive, and actually get somewhere in your life, go make a name for yourself. Only those who push themselves get to move up from this sorry state."

Gob-Petrie's weight slammed against the stalagmite, and it seemed to crack slightly. Of course, the nature of the formation as it was, some cut were made into the young goblins skin, but they quickly began to heal as his struggles continued. After about a good couple of minutes, the stalagmite snapped off from it's base. Suddenly, Petrie found himself at the head of the pack, now possessing a weapon.

The stalagmite still cut his hands, but his regeneration made it not that large of an issue as long as the cuts weren't to bad. The stalagmite required to hands to wield, but none the less would prove a good weapon if he could get close.

Amid his muttering and cursing Grak failed to notice the charging gobi. With a yell he goes down under the other, twisting and squirming, making an attempt to hit her with his stone to get free.

Gro leaves the cave, not realizing all the dangers awaiting him in the world outside. He is cheery and optimistic, immediately going over to a nearby rock, large enough to challenge even him, and begins lifting it up and down above his head. It is FUN!

She began to smack her hands against him, hard not not extremely hard, "Thats for almost knocking me over! this is for scaring the pretty!!! and this is for being a jerk!" she yelled, snarling at him and glaring harshly. She was mad, but this was a nice way to get over it.

He tried to use his arms to protect himself from her smacking, at the same time twisting and bucking to try and throw her off. "How am I jerk?! And what pretty?! I was going after dinner!" His stone slips from his hand, and he tries to grab her wrists.

Petrie feels along the rough and jagged weapon he unearthed curiously, then with sudden roused vigor, holds it high above his head and bellows a triumphant, "Hahah!" He flips it around in his hands and tests its and his own effectiveness through playful jabs and swings and powerful lunges at the empty space in front of him.
Content, he marches into broad daylight, narrowing his eyes as they adjust to the sudden shining brightness of the open and free and dangerous world around him. He edges away from the cave entrance, dragging along his new tool for survival.

"well, elder?"
The elder smiled and nodded "That's how i got to be old..." He said, chuckling along with the other elders. However, he then frowned and leaned forward "But if that's all you do, you'll end up like us. Goblins who never evolved, and never accomplished anything." He said, looking seriously at Gob-Bro.

"but elder, I cant push myself! I'm not telekinetic like that one asshole grak! I can only burn myself!"

"Telekinetic? oooh, you're one of those weird ones with traits."
"Well, if you can make fire, why not use it to hunt? or maybe gather others to follow you by providing fire? or maybe use it to beat others and have them work for you? survive, use your traits. Traits are what let goblins like you have chances for greatness"

"can you teach me how to read?"

" read? I don't know how to read. I think one of the adults who went on the expedition do. I think they're also a magic user, like you."

"how can I find him?"

"They'll be back within a weak or so. Back with food, loot, and other nice things. If we're lucky they'll give us the thing they don't want."

"where are they? I will go find them. this is now my quest and I will get all the people who do not hate me to come with me."

"I have no idea little one. And I suggest not doing that. The forest is filled with danger, and the night brings even greater beasts out. We may be able to see in the dark, but we are still very weak and easy prey for most."

"then I will bring the strongest goblins I can find, and prepare! we shall begin this quest, to learn how to read! Only then can we strive to write our names we have made down into the tapestry of life! It shouldn't be too hard, after all, I have this diction in three days!", he says, before running off to find some cool goblins to form a cool posse.

The elder watched the goblin leave, then sighed looking to the other " Eight rations says he dies today"

he goes over to petri, he seems tough and gruff and willing to not kill him! also he was the closest person to him currently!

"hello! do you want to go learn how to read and go to the outside sometime soon?"

Feeling her wrists caught she struggled and snarled at him, pushing her weight down on him, not that she had much, "The thing! The thing was pretty and you scared it with your floaty rock thingy, and you almost made me fall on your way out, and that makes you a jerk-jerky...jerk!!" She growled at him, what was this now, she wasn't evening hitting him..this was silly.

He just blinks up at her for a few moments, processing what she said. Almost made her fall? "Oh! That was you! Um..." He wasn't sure what to really say about that. He hadn't tried to knock anyone down, he had just wanted to get out and look for some food. "...Uh, sorry?" Keeping hold of her wrists to make sure she didn't try to hit him again he wriggles a bit. "I didn't see you."

Petrie digs his hand into the cloth of Bro's dashing tuxedo and tugs them along. "Learning to read? I've a feeling I'll never manage to do it but it sounds like it'll be amusing. I'll amuse you."

"yes. this is wonderful. we need more strong people to learn how to read. do you know any strong people?", he asks, eying his big rock hard stick with envy.

She looked down at him, raising an eyebrow, her cheeks redding with anger, or were they already red? the freckle like splotches didn't help, "Didn't see me? Didn't, SEE. ME? RIGHT thats what the elders said when they told me 'you have hair like a fucking sun glare.'

She huffed down at him, not moving or struggling anymore just kinda staying where she was.

Petrie glances around.. "That Gro feller over there," he says, pointing his stick at the hulk with the boulder, "He looks promising, don't he? You wanna do the talking?"

"sure, just watch the master, buddy, i'll show you how we get people for a party when there is someone who watches and can judge besides the person asked!", he says, as he vibrates softly.
he saunters over to gro with a silly gait and asks him with a cracking voice "hELLo! do you wAnna go outside?", he asks, his knees wobbly. he nervously hiccups fire.
