Well with timesrows explanation, it would be us feeling responsible probably more than actual responsibility.

The seer and witch either being directed to other visions/predictions, or being forced to see some other vision using his powers in relation to freedom. So they could possibly feel guilty knowing they might have been able to prevent the tragedy if only they had been more vigilant with their abilities. Hestus would be broken because A: Hope is obliterated by the Maids Spiderbitch powers, and B: His moirail/flushcrush just fucking died. She is his most direct responsibility to protect and he would have failed.

As far as shitting on the Prince of Breathe, I think we're already sort of in line with that. Hestus' Rage literally wanted him dead from the gitgo, but never killed him because of his relationship with Caatel (Matesprits). Athlai has a hatecrush on the guy, Amaira doesn't like him, and Ninten never really liked him. The only two people who seem to care about him is Caroll (his moirail who he accidentally kills in rage), and his Caatel (whom he also kills accidentally in rage).

I feel like that Lucian's motivation for blocking the visions of Bevlea and Athlai, and having Hestus' hope destroyed (nothing really bad happens to Amaira unfortunately), would be to get back at them for what they "made" him do. Unfortunately this comes at the cost of his love.

Striken with grief and guilt, he finds some way to the furthest ring, where he starts the obsessive hoarding of Caatel dream-clones.


At least, that's how I'm seeing as described to me so far.

Maybe instead of trying to board dream clones, he's try to find his Caatel. He keeps finding other versions, but they're each slightly different. Not the same, or at all close to his Caatel. Which makes him rage, and possibly kill them using god tier powers.

Which ultimately makes him going to hide in the bubbles not a calculated move, but one of desperation.

Also, since we now have five major players in the story, should we take on a theme of the five steps of grief? Each character representing a stage of grief possibly?
